Businessman Jailed for Heli-Rage
Like road rage but for the very wealthy…
A millionaire businessman who attacked a helicopter has been imprisoned for a year.
Houshang Jafari, 58, was apparently ”livid” when he saw private Jet Ranger blowing debris at his Land Rover during take-off outside his £1.2million flat – part of a converted manor house just outside of Bristol.
But rather than taking the registration number or contacting the passengers by telephone, Jafari went for the Chuck Norris approach. First he threw a bag of chicken bones at the rotor blades and then, as it took off, the 21 stone action man grabbed one of the landing skids causing the chopper to pitch sideways.
Following conviction by a jury of reckless endangerment of an aircraft, Judge Michael Roach told Jafari:
“You physically interfered with a helicopter on take off. In my judgement your behaviour was deliberate and reckless.”
“You are an intelligent, resourceful man who on this particular occasion let your temper get the better of you and you acted in a dangerous manner.” (swns)
