Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has made up eight associates to partner, seven in London and one in Moscow. And it has made nine others associate directors, an alternative to partnership.

The London partner promotions include: Zahra Bardai and Barry Gross – real estate, Oliver Glynn-Jones and Richard Power- litigation & dispute resolution, Kate Binedell, David McLeish and Craig Rattray – corporate. The London associate director promotions include Stewart Anderson, Ben Jones and Adam Turner – corporate finance, and Vanessa Heap – finance.

Herbert Smith has made up 18 to the firm’s partnership this year, including 11 based in London. They include: Hammad Akhtar – insurance (non-contentious), Karen Anderson – financial services regulatory and litigation, Susannah Cogman – corporate crime and contentious regulatory, Chris Parker – arbitration, Simon Tysoe – energy, Tim West – investment funds, John Whiteoak – contentious restructuring and insolvency, Steve Dalton – energy, Kim Dietzel – EU/competition, Jeremy Garson – general commercial litigation, Nik Kiri – financial services regulatory and litigation

And SJ Berwin has made up seven new partners with five in London including: Giles Bavister and Stephen Pevsner – tax, Patrick Deasy – corporate, Carl Richards – employment and Chris Thornham – intellectual property.
