Camerons, Clients, Cocktails, Computers

What happens when you give that list to a management consultant…

They’d probably come up with a bespoke computer system to cuddle the right clients in the right way at cocktail parties. Well here’s news, Cameron’s business development director Judith Prime has beaten them too it:

The Lawyer: The firm has designed a computer program, dubbed ’Reflect’, which gives partners and associates agenda documents and conversation topics to use when wining and dining clients.

Reflect will provide fee-earners with information round-ups about clients and their sectors as well as the latest news about the firm and details of new products they can punt.

Camerons are obviously trying to avoid potential marketing blunders such as those described by consultant, Larry Bodine: many firms simply “dress up their lawyers like hunters,” send them into the woods and tell them to shoot at anything that moves. Obvious this works poorly.

But the legal automaton alternative? Systemising client relationship management is nothing new but doing the same at the level of individual networking. Wouldn’t that be better left to individuals? Unless they are all shrinking violets or tactless boors.

We know from our own experience of Cameronites that’s certainly not the case.

Eye-catching intiative. Smacks a little of over-managing.
