Or HR consultants to you and me…

Or the hired gun that sacked you / your colleagues / your friends / the deadwood. If you’re in the firing line and female it might help if he looked like George Clooney who is up for an Oscar for his latest film role in which he plays a man who fires people for a living. The BBC has taken the opportunity to speak to people from both sides of the equation, which is nice. And topical – The people who sack people.

Like they say, it’s easier to inherit it or marry it than it is to make it (also topical if you have lost or don’t like your job). The Daily Mail reported on a High Court case in which – Millionaire farmer ‘plied with alcohol and drugs by daughters before forcing him to sign will leaving them £300,000 each’. Their two brothers who brought the case branded them ‘disgusting’.

On the subject of property, the High Court has ruled that London’s favorite Mini-driving estate agency, Foxtons, unfairly charged landlords commission every time their tenants renewed their contracts. BBC

Meanwhile, another favorite of home/business owners who have tried to swap, terminate; well do anything with their phoneline, BT, may be breaking the law by not providing sufficient cancellation rights to existing telephone customers who sign up to renewable contracts over the phone, according to Which?, the consumer group. For the sanity of anyone that has experienced BT’s termination charges, let’s hope they are. Go Which?! The Times

Also taking advantage of their bargaining power – so called vulture funds are increasingly feeling the hot antiseptic of exposure. Members of Jubilee Debt Campaign (JDC), which fights against third-world debt, gathered outside Dechert’s Blackfriars office for a ‘charity cake sale’, which the group claimed was to raise money to help “wean Dechert off the unprincipled money they make through vulture cases”. The Lawyer

But at least someone’s having a good month  Sara Crane, a convicted killer, and drug dealer Joanne Davies who are both 31, took advantage of the Civil Partnership Act 2004 and got married in a private ceremony earlier this month. In Send Prison in Surrey. Independent

And finally Police have tracked down a couple of jokers who were snapped doing 60mph in a 45mph zone. In full clown costumes (see pic). Ananova

Enjoy the weekend…
