New Law Straight Out of Orwell’s Imagination
No one likes the thought of their hard earned taxes being wasted on the undeserving but…
…do we really want live in a society where the central government encourages us to snitch on our neighbours? We’re already so far down the surveillance u-bend there’s no going back, the next step…
Daily Mail: Labour could pay snitches to shop benefit cheat neighbours in new crackdown on welfare fraud
And it’s not just Daily Mail scaremongering…
Guardian: The government already has benefit hotlines where suspected cheats can be shopped, but this is the first time a minister has suggested that anyone who reveals a benefit cheat might secure a proportion of the money recovered, or that there should be a financial incentive.
It’s like spending money to create a man made disease and then spending more money on foul tasting medicine to hide the symptoms. Crackers.
What sort of neighbourly spying will be next on the agenda?
