Allen & Overy Goes Down Under
An opportunity for A&O juniors to grab their sex wax…?
A&O is headed to the surers paradise for the new gold rush, raiding local firm Clayton Utz for 14 of its partners in the process. The Oz exposure will compliment its Asia-Pacific presence in China, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore.
With the Australian economy booming compared to other developed economies, particularly in the energy, mining and natural resources sectors; it’s a fine time for A&O to chase some Aussie dollars.
Business Week: Allen & Overy LLP, the U.K.’s fourth- largest law firm, said it will open offices in Sydney and Perth for the first time, adding 17 new partners in Australia targeting mining and natural resources merger work.
“We see significant opportunities,” Senior Partner David Morley said in a statement today.
And the UK’s pathetic economic forecasts mean Australian firms can expect to see more competition from pommy practices setting up shop.
