Are Lawyers Really That Bad?
If the stats from one particular website are anything to go by, the answer might be yes…
News of a website called Solicitorsfromhell.co.uk has been doing the rounds. The URL is fairly self explanatory but, as it’s Friday morning and we know some of our readers aren’t averse to the odd late Thursday night out, here’s a quick explanation.
The site basically allows visitors to post complaints about law firms and individual solicitors, creating an unofficial blacklist. The postings then appear on Google within 24 hours. As you’d imagine, it’s not quite in the same spirit as the SRA’s published regulatory decisions but then the site’s owner, Rick Kordowski, has gone for the money angle.
If that sounds like bait for litigators, his fixed charges – £299 to have all current and future traces of their name removed from the site or £99 and £199 to have specific postings deleted – are probably cheap enough to tempt most firms to just cough up and avoid the hassle.
Here are the stats which he gave to the Gazette. He claims on average to have six new postings a day. Visitors to the site exceed 1,000 a day and he expects to have 2,000 visitors a day by the end of April. So, increasingly popular and increasingly risky?
Bets on for when the first libel claim hits…
