Dentons – Keeping Britain’s Economic Heart Beating

Has the Treasury started a trend? Is de-stressing the new profit booster…?

New year, new resolutions. Dieting… so noughties. De-stressing, it’s got a superior, higher-level-of-thinking ring to it don’t you think. But, will it catch on?

Last week it became apparent that the downturn was all getting a bit much for Treasury workers so some helpful (and expensive) consultants jumped in to help Darling’s team deal with their anguish. You might be a little surprised at the advice they received in the current circumstances but we guess that’s what the experts are for.

Then, this week, in a bid to stave off stress-related illness and thereby reduce sick days (and the associated cost), Denton Wilde Sapte also introduced a stress management training programme for staff. The firm’s health and wellbeing officer proudly told the Lawyer, “We think it will promote the health and wellbeing of those in the firm. We realise that if we don’t look after our people now the firm and the country will suffer.”

If your firm hasn’t started a de-stressing programme suck it up and keep your fingers crossed, the trend might catch on yet. In the meantime don’t hold it against Dentonites, they’ve got the country to consider.
