A&O Eat Your Heart Out, BLM is most Female Friendly Firm
The competition to become the most attractive law firm is hotting up…
After centuries of male dominance, firms are suddenly in quite a fizz about making their partnerships more attractive to women.
Allen & Overy announced a new scheme last week, which it hopes will encourage greater numbers of women to go for partnership. As it stands, the firm still has only around 15% of the partnership made up of females.
New research by the Lawyer has found that Berrymans Lace Mawer has the highest proportion of female partners among the UK top 50 firms with 35%. Beachcroft and Shoosmiths also fared well with 33% and 32% respectively. Of the City’s big hitters, Slaughters came out in front of the the Magic Circle firms with 19%.
Check out the Lawyer’s full report for the rest of the top 50; interestingly enough, the spread appears to explode the myth that firms’ work-type is a dominant factor in female progression.
Surprised?
