It advised on deals worth €484bn. Freshfields was also ranked no 1 by Mergermarket for UK M&A deals, advising on 112 deals worth €259bn.
The Thomson Financial M&A league tables also put Freshfields at number 1 after the firm advised on 312 announced European deals with a total value of $526bn and 261 completed European deals worth $507bn.
