Potential career at the Bar for one stealth lawyer…
Georgina Blackwell, a 23 year old Essex beautician showed the pros how its done in court. Lined up against a legal team representing Bellway Homes, she managed to overturn a previous High Court judgment and in the process win her mother £75,000 compensation. The Mail reports that Mrs Blackwell nearly lost everything in the access dispute which saw their back garden turned into a building site and their business disrupted. In Georgina Blackwell’s own words:
I’m a blonde, 23-year-old beautician from Essex,’ she said. ‘I know it doesn’t look good on paper, but I think they underestimated me.
‘I felt scared stiff by the huge courtroom and speaking in front of a High Court judge but I got a surge of adrenaline and thought "They aren’t going to intimidate me".
‘I opened the case, gave evidence, and cross-examined their solicitor. When the judgment was read out it was fantastic. I wanted to jump up and down.
Red faced Bellway told the Mail that they didn’t want to discuss the case but Ms Blackwell will probably dine out on it for some time.
And it may have spurred her to head for the Bar too – before becoming a beautician, she had considered a career as a barrister.
