Birmingham barrister, Victoria Edmonds-Shakell, 25, has been charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroine to her husband. It is understood that she was arrested following an investigation by Warwickshire Police but was later released on bail.
Ms Edmonds-Shakell, originally from Warwickshire, works with Birmingham’s St Philips chambers where she is expected to continue practicing prior to a court hearing next April. Her particular areas of expertise do not cover the charges she is faced with – she apparently specialises in family, civil and commercial work. But if she wasn’t an expert before she surely will be by the time this is over. The Mail reports that:
Ms Edmonds-Shakell’s solicitor, Chris Pendle, said yesterday that his client strenuously denied the charges.
He said: ‘My client has been charged with two counts of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs to her husband.
‘These allegations are strenuously denied and there will be legal argument in respect of these charges which may result in the allegations not proceeding.’

Amazing scenes. I once heard that a partner at a London firm got fired after being caught sniffing coke in the toilet whilst simultaneously rogering his secretary.
High five to that.

sounds like an awesome way to go
better than being stabbed in the back and ‘managed out’

How many legal careers would be under threat if the police decided to follow lawyers round the City on a friday night spot-checking them for marching powder?

This just the way the cookie crumbles: I once heard that an associate in a London firm was high on fileferru and took a colleague in Green Park in the evening and took her from behind secretly. Apparently she was the one telling the story the following day.
