With Iran, the economic crisis and all the other foreign policy and domestic problems facing the US, Brown and the UK are not the most important assets he has to consider. We are just another country in a long list that share and serve certain strategic goals for US policy (like helping out in Afghanistan); we are certainly not a top proirity on any front. Our cultural relationship may be special in some way and be something ordinary Brits and Americans see as valuable but in policy terms it is just a (slightly irritating) distraction for Obama. At home Brown is dead politically. Other politicians will do business with him as the UK's leader but they won't be in a hurry to cozy up to him. No reflected glory there. Friday rant over.
