Cops: Man Tried to Pay for Gas with Pot

Authorities in Frederick County, Maryland say a 52-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly tried to pay for gas with marijuana instead of cash.

Frederick County Sheriff’s deputies say it happened at the Classic Fuels Store on Old National Pike in New Market, Maryland on Sunday afternoon around 3 p.m. They say 52-year-old James T. Hart of Frederick offered the store clerk marijuana in lieu of cash to pay for his gas.

The store employee refused, and immediately called deputies to investigate. When they arrived, authorities found what they believed to be cocaine, marijuana, and Oxycodone in his possession. Hart was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Robber asked victim for date

A US man allegedly robbed a woman outside her home – and then returned two hours later to ask her for a date.

Police say Stephen Bennett, 20, was one of three men who robbed Daniel Martinez Batista and Diana Martinez at gunpoint in Columbus, Ohio. The late night robbery happened in a car park outside Ms Martinez’s apartment, reports the Columbus Dispatch.

The three robbers fled with Mr Batista’s wallet and Ms Martinez’s purse after they were threatened by a neighbour. But, less than two hours later, one of the three robbers returned to the apartment to ask Ms Martinez out, police said.

"We are not exactly sure what he was thinking at the time," said Columbus police Sgt Shaun Laird.

"She recognized him right away when he returned, and was able to have her cousin call 911." Police arrived within minutes and arrested Bennett. They are still looking for two other men in connection with the robbery.
