Camerons Defers NQs

In an unusual move Camerons has asked its NQs to defer starting as qualified lawyers. In an unusual move Camerons has asked its NQs to defer starting as qualified lawyers. Last month the firm managed a respectable retention rate of 77% having offered 21 out of 30 qualifiers jobs as associates and finding alternative roles for two of the others; one as a paralegal and another as an assistant to Camerons general counsel.

The latest revelation sees the firm requesting seven of its newly-qualified trainees to defer starting by up to three months. It is understood that the qualification process was delayed to help the firm secure positions for as many of the NQs as possible. However, the deferred newly-qualifieds have not been offered financial compensation. That’ll be popular.
