Marco Amoretti and Marcolino De Candia thought their bright pink Maserati’s MOT would cover them for sailing as well as driving (Maserati make sports cars). They decided to take their converted waterproof car-boat called Miriam for a spin down the beach and into the water at Forte dei Marmi, in northern Italy. However, the two were seized by coastguard officials after they came in to dock for a meal at a local restaurant. They were fined several hundred euros and had the boat confiscated for failing to have the necessary paperwork and safety equipment for sailing in Italian waters. Source .
In China a police patrol car spotted water leaking from the driver’s cab as it sped along the Jinyi expressway, reports Changjiang Business Daily. Worried that the driver may have had an unknown mechanical problem, the police signalled for him to pull over. The officers were shocked to see the driver was wet through and had been enjoying a shower via a sprinkler kettle system rigged up above his head. They fined the driver and warned it’d be serious trouble if he tried to have a shower at the wheel again. Source .
And the American suburban tradition of selling homemade lemonade got seven Philadelphia children accused of violating an ordinance banning sales without a permit. An officer checking up on their lack of supervision failed to realise that the ordinance wasn’t applicable to under 16s. Source .
