Hardly the point, there is no excuse for inequality of pay in the profession where there is equality of standards. We do need to get past this simplistic post-feminist state of affairs. Men and women are different biologically, physically and mentally. Accordingly we need to recognise this in formulating sensible policies going forward. Blanket ‘fairness’ agendas don’t do anyone any favours.

That means I should be getting about few 000s more a year than my female room mate which I am not. Seeing as her husband just bought her a 70 grand car I don’t think she would notice anyway.

There are many factors that influence this – until they can be clearly ientified it is very hard to rectify. Making arbitrary changes has unintended consequences.
