Nice try but… “A Portland attorney who blamed his German luxury car for a speeding ticket was told he was responsible, not the automaker,” reports AP/OregonLive

C. Akin Blitz used the powerful argument that his Ultimate Driving Machine was soooo good that he had no idea his BMW 535xi was going 76 mph in a 55 mph zone; he even buttressed his arguments with a PowerPoint presentation and testimony from a mechanic.

Blitz said he was just trying to get ahead of a line of cars following a motorhome over a mountain pass on U.S. Highway 26 and had no idea he was breaking the limit. Not convinced, Clatsop County Circuit Judge Philip Nelson last week fined Blitz $182 and told him he was not only speeding, he ignored the risk of hitting wildlife that frequently cross the road. That should keep PETA happy .

As one US legal commentator (Popehat ) explained – as a rule, you will not find traffic court judges sympathetic to the defense “Your honor, I am not guilty because my German luxury car is too awesome.
