Well that’s the message this marketing video was supposed to give anyway. Well that’s the message this marketing video was supposed to give anyway. Law firms and film-making don’t always go like peas in a pod; we recently got wind of one mid-sized UK firm who did an "Apprentice-style" video for recruitment purposes with some amusing results (yes, we can’t wait until it hits YouTube but no joy just yet). The video below acually made it onto YouTube after the mid-sized US firm that commissioned it was horrified by the results and declined to use it. US legal blog On the Record set the scene as follows:

Micah Buchdahl is a legal marketer in New Jersey. He was approached by a mid-size law firm in a top five market to work on a marketing campaign for lateral recruitment. (He won’t say which firm; the reason for that will become very clear in just a moment.) The firm wanted “edgy,” they said.

The film-maker decided to publish the video independently (note the blured out logos) as a way of show-casing his talents. The firm apparently wanted “edgy,” but on seeing the film decided that they wanted something a little more “traditional” instead…
