We can’t imagine this sort of thing happening over here, a sort of Jordan meets Cherie Booth QC scenario, but some of our friends across the Atlantic are not so shy. The Legal Blog Watch has been following the career of a certain lady lawyer who has made some rather interesting career choices in the last year or two…
The eagle-eyed bloggers first noticed Chicago divorce lawyer, Corri D. Fetman in May 2007, after they read a post about her firm, Fetman, Garland & Associates , and its racy Chicago billboard. The billboard (click below to see) showed a scantily clad, faceless woman next to the slogan, "Life’s short. Get a divorce." Fetman cropped up later on, in January 2008, when she revealed in a press release that the woman on the billboard was in fact her. Apparently, she revealed something else too – that the February 2008 issue of Playboy included what was described as a "provocative nude pictorial of Corri" accompanied by the debut of her online column The Lawyer of Love .
So, having put up billboards around Chicago showing her in skimpy black lingerie, posed nude and written a legal advice column for Playboy , Fetman is now suing the magazine for sexual harassment. She has filed a lawsuit alleging that former Playboy executive Thomas Hagopian canceled her column after she rebuffed his sexual advances. She is seeking damages of more than $4.5 million.
Her lawyer commented "Sometimes attractive women get unwanted attention."
Hmmm.
