Unfortuntely for Allen & Overy, their dismissed former associate, Deidre Dare, is not disappearing quietly. Following an article in The Times , and reports that she intends to take action in The Lawyer , she has now been interviewed by the Bitter Lawyer . It seems the project finance lawyer is happy to have exchanged drafting loan agreements for the rather more glamourous world of being a ‘celebrity columnist’ in Moscow. As she puts it:

"My life has changed so dramatically, it is almost impossible to describe. I was a lawyer. Now I am, according to The Moscow News , a “celebrity author.” That’s quite a change for someone used to drafting loan agreements.

I have no regrets whatsoever.

The best part of all this is getting the column for The Moscow News . I love writing it. I love being a columnist. I love my editor. I love the paper. It is the coolest job ever. The King of Spades bought me a little reporter’s notebook, and I jot down ideas and run around Moscow. It feels so, so good. It’s a dream job.

The worst part has been the cowardice of others. Maybe that’s what is making me bitter ."

A quick visit to her column in The Moscow News reveals details of the indecent proposal she received when the scandal first erupted:

"During the initial furore of the "Top lawyer told to stop writing porn" sensation, I received an e-mail from Chris offering me 20,000 euros to have one single dinner with him. The next day, when I hadn’t answered, he offered 30,000. The day after that, when I still hadn’t responded – 100,000…

And then I wrote back …"

Head to The Moscow News for more on that story or click to the Bitter Lawyer interview – it’s peppered with all sorts of details; apparently, "there are no high-powered lawyers" and she has something of a talent for writing porn. We also learn more about Ms Dare’s early career, views on life and her hopes for the future.
