The firm has already made news this week after being seduced by Digiprotect into doing some porn copyright litigation. The excitement centred on its pursuit of illegal file sharers who are thought to have downloaded such blockbuster titles as Army F*ckers . The firm sent a letter demanding £500 to an elderly couple alleged to have downloaded the cheerfully named bit of gay porn.
If that wasn’t enough it now emerges that Consumer group Which? has complained to the Solicitors Regulatory Authority about the “bullying” behaviour of Davenport Lyons in its letters.
According to The Lawyer Which? also claims that the Davenport Lyons letters make “incorrect assertions about the nature of copyright infringement”.
It seems like Davenport Lyons has attracted a bit of the wrong sort of attention in reaching for the ‘top’ shelves with its probe into this field. Is everyone just getting a bit over excited or are we yet to reach the climax? Stay tuned.

This whole episode looks like it will have been an embarrasing mess

dirty innuendo
talking of which the whole thing looks like a sticky mess to me

I think that it is great in this day and age that a well respected firm can openly act on behalf of the purveyors of porn.

3 – what do you mean by ‘well respected’

3 continued : Look, porn is a legit business. I met a Dutch guy when I was travelling in Bolivia before I started my training contract years ago who sold porn on the net legitimately and he was making an f***ing fortune (hoho). Now I was faced with coming back to a training contract at the time paying in the region of £30k or thereabouts and the prospect of having to work 14 hour days for 4 or 5 years to earn a decent 6 figure sum. This guy was only a year or two older than me and earning more than I am now (6 years later). He’s probably retired now whilst I can only say I do something very respectable 14 hours a day and earn a fair amout doing it.

5 my heart bleads. You obviously work in the City, you should try working in the regions. I work pretty heavy hours in Manchester and 6 figures is a distant dream. At least until I reach partnersip probably.
