Top female lawyers line up for Ritchie and Madonna
After recent speculation and denials, Guy Ritchie and Madonna have come clean about their intention to divorce. After recent speculation and denials, Guy Ritchie and Madonna have come clean about their intention to divorce.
Helen Ward of City firm Manches has been instructed to represent Ritchie and Madonna is believed to have contacted Fiona Shackleton of Payne Hicks Beach. Ward famously handled one of the largest divorce settlements in UK history, securing a £48m pay out for client Beverley Charman, the former wife of insurance magnate John Charman. Shackleton represented Paul McCartney in his recent high profile divorce from Heather Mills.
Apparently Ritchie is not interested in Madonna’s fortune estimated at somewhere around the £300m mark but is keen to protect his interests as a father. Ritchie is hardly on the breadline himself however with an estimated fortune of between £30-£50m.
Looks like ripe cannon fodder for our tabloids over the coming months…
Other than that, it is likely to be a keenly observed case by the legal community due to the wealth divide of the parties and the fact that it is the female that has the higher net worth.
Then of course there are the two children who will be caught up in this. Let’s hope it doesn’t get ugly.

Not being cynical but even if he did want to take her to the cleaners I doubt our system would be quite a sympathetic as if the roles were reversed. Other than that he’s probably lucky just to escape with his balls still attached.
