Much has been made of the top legal earners recently and a new report suggests that top City lawyers can earn up to ten times the national average for those in the legal profession.

The national average earnings are estimated at approximately £50,000, whilst the average amongst the top earners at City firms tops £500,000.

Law still ranks third behind careers in trading and finance both averaging over the £1m mark for its top players.

In the long run these big shots can potentially have total average earnings during their stellar years of £10m for lawyers, £22m for traders and £15m for those in general finance but many of the individuals surveyed said they were looking to retire or start a second career before they turned 50.

Are these guys paid too much or not enough, hmm?
